Use Preview More Effectively
Another great article at MacDevCenter by Giles Turnbull delves into the wealth of lesser-known features of OS X's Preview application. It turns out that Preview, especially the most recent version shipping with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, has plenty of extra features that can elevate it to one of your favorite utilities. Its usefulness is further enhanced by the fact that it's AppleScriptable, meaning that it can perform many tasks within an Automator workflow.
It turns out Preview can do image editing similar to what you can do with iPhoto, it can add Spotlight-searchable keywords, it can do some basic PDF editing and really fast PDF searching, and it comes with some handy standard Automator actions. Check out the article for details and more.
